March 21st was THE day! I married that handsome dark haired HUNK your eyes keep drifting too, mhhhmmm I know it. He's fine as heck.
BUT LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE STORY BEFORE WE TALK ABOUT THE CUTE JUNK!!!
Yall know about this stupid virus right? I know you do... WELL...
1. Covid "dumbteen" made us reschedule our wedding AND shut down family from being able to come. That mean my grandma, cousins, aunts, his grooms men, sister and brother... ALL stuck in another state.
2. We spur of the moment decided to elope week of getting the news. No way we were throwing the huge party and celebrating marriage basically without our whole family (if you know us you know we are HUGE family people). So, we picked a special little spot and had a tiny wedding with moms and dads and few other people close to us.
3. We got our marriage license day before wedding, having to leave court house 3 times during that span of time to scavenge for missing documents to firm it all out... could have puked.
4. Neither one of us had wedding bands (I still don't).
5. Jonathan found a wedding band DAY OF with his dad at a flooded pawn shop. The guy had them put on Crocks and wade through the water inside to the store so he could show Jonathan the rings he had. Thank the LORD for this man.
6. Jonathan’s pants ripped right before the ceremony. Yeah... right down down the middle.
7. ALL HONEY MOON PLANS CANCELLED. Yes ma'am cancelled. I've got a whole other blog post waiting for y'all on that one.
Let's just say WE WILL NEVER forget this time. Talk about memories.
I won't lie to you and say this all didn't stress me the heck out... I definantly cried hysterically the majority of the week. I was EXCITED but also extremely overwhelmed and disappointed...
...BUT I can tell you it's the best decision we ever could have made. We got married 2 weeks early, at the little place I was talking about, called "Friendly Flyers". That place holds so many memories from my high school years with my best friend; it was one of the first dates Jonathan and I went on. We used to drive around on the field in his truck and park it when it got dark and watch the stars until it was time to head home. We had so many heart felt conversations about Jesus and cried so many tears there. We got to say "I do" under the big beautiful oak tree we always used to talk under. The weather held up in spite of what the forecast told us all week... our caterer, Silver Queen was able to stay open for us to have mini reception afterwards... our sweet pastor at Redeeming Grace Church dropped everything to be there to marry us... a handful of our bridal party was able to be there, I mean it just all worked out in the best way it possibly could in spite of the circumstances.
We rescheduled the big wedding (I guess now vow renewal) for June so EVERYONE can be there. Although the time was stressful, I will always treasure it. It's given us one heck of a story to tell.
